Wild bands Twin Guns and Muck & the Mires will perform at the 21st installment of SmashCrashBash!!, a rock ’n’ roll-themed party at the Half Moon in Hudson, NY, on Friday, August 7, beginning at 9pm. SmashCrashBash!! features live performances by the tops in totally rockin’, hand-picked touring bands and DJs spinning the best in punk, garage, vintage R&B, and REAL rock ’n’ roll for your dancing and screaming pleasure.
Taking garage punk down some of its shadier alleyways, New York’s Twin Guns have carved out a sonically spookified niche within the underground music scene. Featuring Andrea Sicco, “Jungle” Jim Chandler (the Cramps/the Makers), and newly added bassist Kristen Fayne-Mulroy, this trio drenches their growing audience in reverb, fuzz, and an overdose of volume while mixing equal parts Jesus and Mary Chain, Suicide, Ennio Morricone, and New York no wave into a sinister slurry all their own. “A Phil Spector-meets-Nick Cave-style of rock ’n’ roll…no-frills, straight-up rock ’n’ roll sucker punch…with grimy gems and psychedelic, reverb-soaked jams.”—Onion A.V. Club
Boston’s Muck & the Mires have been described as a blend of the 1964 Beatles and the 1977 Ramones. Their songs are reminiscent of the 1960s British Invasion: all two minutes long and ALL POTENTIAL HITS, while their live show is a high energy blast of fast-paced, post-punk, gritty garage rock ’n’ roll. They have built a worldwide following through relentless touring, radio and satellite airplay and a string of recordings, several of which were produced by music legends Kim Fowley and Jim Diamond. In 2004, the band gained worldwide recognition when they were featured on MTV as the winners of Little Steven Van Zandt’s (E-Street band/Underground Garage) national battle of the garage bands contest.
DJing at the August blast will be Chris Bishop (www.GarageHangover.com) and Stately Wayne Manor (Swamp Fiction Records).
For over two years, SmashCrashBash!! has been the loudest, best, rowdiest—and only—real rock ’n’ roll party in the Hudson Valley. See ya there!
